This last weekend I played a lot of Nyx. In facts, I only played her. I found there are many builds possibles for her. I decided to start this thread so everyone can post their own Nyx build and discuss them.
Quick recap of Nyx and Demios abilities:
nQ: delayed AoE damage
dQ: low damage in a cone, low cooldown
nW: trap that roots the next commander stepping on it. lasts a few minutes and provides vision.
nW: your next 3 basic attacks deal extra Power damage and heal you slightly
nE: projectile that damages and Charms the first Commander hit
dE: charge to a ground target, dealing damage and slowing them
nR: Transform into Demios, gaining Attack damage. You also gain a temporary Shield that deals low VOID damage to attackers.
dR: Transform into Nyx. You also gain a short speed boost and leave a trail of fire dealing low VOID damage.
only nQ, nW and nE cost Energy.
Nyx starts with her R ability at level 1. It is more like a fourth ability than an Ultimate.
I'll let someone else get all the exact numbers
I start the game with two points in Power and Q as my first ability. This helps me clear a creep nest before going to lane, where it is great at poking. I unlock my other two abilities by level 3 and rank them up equally, leaving Q at rank 1. This lets me abuse the very low rank 1 energy cost while relying on Power to deal damage. It also lets me increase the duration of the Charm (nE) and Traps(nW) and increase the Charge slow (dE), as well as increasing their damage.
When laning passively against solid or aggressive opponents, Nyx is the best form. I poke with nQ and basic attacks while staying in a safe position, occasionally using placing a trap (nW) as an extra Sensor Drone when I can spare the high Energy cost. the Charm (nE) has a moderate cast time that lets opponents dodge it easily if they aren't distracted or impaired.
Demios form is better to clear Army with its low cooldown dQ and its increased basic attack damage, but being melee makes you vulnerable to poke. Demios is also the form you want to be in to engage in lane or initiate a gank: charging (dE) to an enemy or a unit nearby makes it easy to land a charm (nE) (after transforming (dR)). You can then follow up by placing a trap (nW) underneath the enemy feets, the charm should last while the trap arms itself, leaving the enemy rooted for a guaranteed Burn (nQ). While this combo will rarely be enough to kill a healty target the long CC lets a teammate deal its damage easily. With some cooldown reduction there is not a long idle time before I can return in Demios form, Charge (dE) almost cooled down and ready to chase my fleeing opponent.
Ability shards and Proficiencies:
I start the game with two points in Power. I usually put a point in Health for every three in Power. My first Proficiency is Caster Burst; after obtaining it you can walk back to lane in Demios form, using his free abilities to charge up your proficiency. I take Mobility or Reflexion if I need more defense and Power Strike if I need more damage, adding Caster Damage to keep my damage reliable in the late game or Power Penetration to reach the cooldown reduction cap.
- Use your Ward!
- Kill the Sniper first!
- while being Demios, (dW) will reset your basic attack timer, allowing you to attack twice quickly.
- Burn, baby (nQ) and the trap (nW) give vision over walls and in Magnetic Fields.
- Demios Charge (dE) can be used trough walls; you can get to a creep camp be revealing it with nQ, then nR->dE to it.
- You can use the trap (nW) as a small sensor drone; I like placing one in the enemy Upgrade Module.
- When traveling long distances, keep switching forms to benefit from dR speed boost.
Augments and Tacticals:
having access to only tier 2 Augments, I use a mix of Power, Penetration and Health with a bit of cooldown Reduction. The power lets me poke better early while the health helps me survive.
I usually go in battle with Displacement, Medical Drone and either Impulse Strike to farm creeps or Command:Attack to help pushing towers and securing kills. That said, I always forget to use them.
That's how I play Nyx. What are your favourite build on her? Do you prefer going full Power or be a tankier Brawler?
